Monday 5 February saw the first afternoon of coffee and conversation at Argyle Gardens Retirement Village between some of the Residents and 15 of our Year 11 and 12 students. This first gathering was small, with 10 Residents joining our students in the beautiful recreation room for an hour of exchanging stories and shooting the breeze. The gathering was enhanced by fresh, barista-made coffee and hot chocolate, made by the lovely staff from Favours Coffee which is owned by local businessman and ex-Shalom student, Kyle Myers. Favours are fully sponsoring our visits to Argyle Gardens, supplying delicious beverages, made on site at their mobile coffee van. We can’t thank Favours Coffee enough! The students were outstanding and engaged readily in conversation with the Residents and the feedback from the Residents was exceptionally positive. It was magnificent to see the exchange of wisdom between the generations and the beautiful spirit in which it occurred. Next Café Wisdom is Monday 4 April.
