On Saturday, Jaslyn P and Benjamin W participated in the Lions Youth of the Year contest and performed quite well.

Jaslyn stood out, winning the speaking award for her "Princesses and Power" speech, drawing inspiration from Moana. Her community-minded approach and clear structuring impressed the audience, especially in the impromptu speaking section.

Ben also deserves recognition for his authentic presentation. His speech on the Israel-Palestine conflict showcased maturity and balanced arguments. Despite facing a challenging impromptu topic about Taylor Swift as a role model, Ben provided a thoughtful and resistant reading, citing her irresponsible travel habits.

It's worth noting that the interview component was particularly beneficial for them, as it was their first experience speaking to an interview panel.

Both students worked incredibly hard and sacrificed their Saturday for this event.
