Year 12 Induction Ceremony
Last Thursday, our Year 12 cohort received their senior tie and badge during our Induction Ceremony. Many family members were able to join with us in a ceremony that included prayer, scripture, and reflection. The vocal ensemble, along with their teachers, helped to make the event both beautiful and memorable. This all occurred in front of a backdrop, lovingly created by a team of workers, that highlighted the theme ‘Garden of Life’. This theme brings with it an opportunity to renew our relationship with our environment, with each other, and with God; Planting seeds that help these young people take joy in their surroundings and to grow in their awareness of God’s presence in all things. The Induction ceremony formally marks the beginning of a very special year. We are eager to see the unique contribution that this group of students will make to our community.
Crazy Hair and Socks Day
Throughout Lent we encourage a commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through Project Compassion. The money raised is used by Caritas to educate and empower. The positive outcomes from Caritas programs extend across generations, making lasting change and righting injustices. To help us fundraise for this great cause, we will be having a Crazy Hair and Socks Day on Thursday 14 March. Students must still wear their normal uniform but they can swap out their socks for something more fun and/or have crazy hairstyles for the day. Of course, this will require a gold coin donation to Project Compassion.
If you would like to support Project Compassion this Lent, you can contribute online at https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/donate
Masses
Gathering as a community to participate in Mass is central to being Catholic. As a Catholic School, we provide opportunities for students and staff to participate in Masses, regardless of their own faith background or none. Therefore, each House will join with another, to celebrate a House Mass during one of their timetabled Assembly times in Term 2 or Term 3.
Each Religious Education class will also cohost a Wednesday morning Mass at 8am in our chapel. This Mass occurs during term time and is a Parish Mass, so it is open to all. The Mass finishes before the 8.40am bell. Religious Education teachers will email a notice to families prior to their allocated Mass, and we encourage attendance. Upcoming Masses will be hosted by our Senior students.
