ANZAC Assembly

Last Wednesday a College Assembly was held to commemorate all those that have served in the armed forces in the lead up to ANZAC Day. The enduring legacy of mateship, self-sacrificing courage and perseverance was highlighted in an interview with past-parent and naval veteran, Mr Max Francis. During the prayer, cadets placed the traditional poppies, along with desert peas, on the stage as a symbolic gesture of remembrance for those who lost their lives in battle, including our first nations people. A wreath was also laid to the beautiful hymn, How Great Thou Art, performed by our talented orchestra. The Last Post and Reveille were played by Year 12 student Angus W and the Treble Makers led us in the anthems of New Zealand and Australia. The ceremony enabled us to gather as a college community, in gratitude for generations of members of the army, navy and air force who have served so that we can enjoy the peace and freedom that characterises our Australian way of life.

Masses

Gathering as a community to participate in Mass is central to being Catholic. As a Catholic School, we provide opportunities for students and staff to participate in Masses, regardless of their own faith background or none. Therefore, each House will join with another, to celebrate a House Mass during one of their timetabled Assembly times in Term 2 or Term 3.

Each Religious Education class will also cohost a Wednesday morning Mass at 8am in our chapel. This Mass occurs during term time and is a Parish Mass, so it is open to all. The Mass finishes before the 8.40am bell. Religious Education teachers will email a notice to families prior to their allocated Mass, and we encourage attendance. Upcoming Masses will be hosted by our Senior students.
