Woorabinda Recap
In Week 7, the School Chaplain Cheryl Petersen & Indigenous Education Liaison Officer, Valli Mitchelson, travelled to Woorabinda to deliver the generous donations to Sister Cecilia, from the Shalom & St Patrick’s Primary Schools. These items, consisting of winter clothes, blankets, sheets and towels, will be added to the Goodwill store which Sister Cecilia operates in the small community, assisted by some of the local women.
Woorabinda is a rural town located in Central Queensland, 170km south-west of Rockhampton. Woorabinda is situated on the traditional lands of the Wadja (Wad-ja) and Gungaloo (Gun-ga-loo) Aboriginal peoples. It has a population of approximately 1019 people, with approximately 91.6% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
