Term 3 began with a multi-day excursion for three of our Year 11 Accounting and Business students. Jade, Jonah and Tyler attended the ECOMAN workshop hosted by Wealth Managers, Ulton at their Bundaberg offices.

The ECOMAN program is run by Queensland Private Enterprise Centre (QPEC) which links school education with the business world by providing workshops for students to manage a “real” business through the phases of the business cycle. Students integrate the different operational sections of business - including human resources, inventory management, production, management and financial accounting, and marketing – to maximise shareholder wealth over a period of continuous improvement. The three-days culminate in a presentation by all schools to Ulton partners and managers, and guest business specialist, Wade James. Mr James also provided an inspiring presentation to all of the students outlining his pathway from school leaver to successful business owner and manager.

Tyler, Jade and Jonah gave a very professional final presentation summarising the strategies and results of their various management positions over the three days. Well done to these students for participating and for representing Shalom College so professionally. We are also very grateful to QPEC and Ulton who kindly sponsor this important program every year.
