Rowing Head of River Success
After 3 terms of training & practice regattas, the local schools rowing season has come to an end, with the final Bundaberg All Schools Combined Head of River Regatta. The 2-day regatta was held over the weekend (Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 August) with 40 of our rowers participating in over 50 heats and finals races. Shalom put in their strongest performance yet. In the 33 events we were nominated in, we brought home 22 x Gold, 16 x Silver & 5 x Bronze. Even beat our results from last year!! Our oarsome gold medallist are listed below:
The final event to take out the HOR trophy was an Open Mixed Quad. Our team of Sam C, Jacob N, Sophie E, Mary S & Cox Stan M put in an exceptional effort and came home with silver. A big congratulations to all the rowers on their outstanding commitment to this oarsome sport. They have gone from strength to strength over the five regattas.
A huge THANK-YOU again to the parents, coaches and volunteers that assisted the rowers and the team throughout the local season. It has been a big 3 terms, and we couldn’t have been a success without you all. THANK YOU also to our sponsors that help financially support our uniform. But this is still not the end. Our next regatta is the Queensland States Championships at Wyaralong Dam on the 14-16 September. 25 of our rowers will be heading south to verse up to 800 competitors from all over Queensland. We look forward to sharing the team’s success after the regatta.

Raffle
Please support Shalom Rowing’s Father’s Day Raffle. We are fundraising for a new safety boat & outboard. Our current safety boats have been repaired too many times & we need to start replacing them. Safety boats are essential to our sport as rowing is considered a high risk sport, with each crew needing a coach & safety boat on the water with them. Please share with your family & friends. How cool would it be give Dad one of these prizes for Father’s Day!!!
