From the Library…

This week the joint Literary Committee features the winner of our next category in the anthology Shalom College’s own “Literary Wonders” for 2024; 9-10 Poetry. The following is the beautiful work of Asha D. which invokes images of gossamer fairy wings and soft fragrant breezes. Enjoy …

Magic

By Asha D. (Winner Yr. 9-10 Poetry)

Magic In a realm where whispers weave through the willow's sigh,
Where the moonlit velvet drapes the shy, sombre sky,
There lies the gentle breath of the arcane,
A world where magic refuses to wane.

Beneath the cloak of the night’s embracing fold,
The stars are ancient scribes, their stories told
In the flicker of an ember’s playful dance,
Where spirits swirl in a luminous trance.

With a wand’s gentle flick, the unseen stirs,
Awakening the slumber of the pine and firs.
The air, heavy with the scent of mystic blooms,
Carries the secrets of forgotten tombs.

Fairies flit through the thicket, a silent ballet,
Their wings dusted with the magic of the Milky Way.
Each beat, a whisper of the world's hidden lore,
Revealing wonders not be held before.

In the heart of the forest where the shadows play,
The mystic beast roams with its mane of grey.
Eyes aglow with the light of a thousand dreams,
Guardian of the mysteries and the in-between.

An incantation here, a potion mixed there,
The alchemist's concoctions floating in the air.
Bubbles pop with promises of power and plight,
Crafting charms under the shroud of night.

Magic, oh magic, in every breath and stone,
In the silent language only the wind has known.
A symphony of the cosmos, finely spun,
Under the watchful eyes of the sun.

So fear not the power that thrums through the veins
Of this world where enchantment forever reigns.
For here, in the whispers of the willow's sigh,
Magic lives, breathes, and will never die.
