We have had a great start to the year in CSA and have had the opportunity to participate in some exciting learning experiences.

Year 7

This week our Year 7 students had the opportunity to experience the Starlab as part of their Natural Phenomena Unit. The show included a range of day and night sky presentations, discovering planets and the interactions between the sun, earth and moon.

James enjoyed the dome experience and learnt how the moon effects the tides.

Bear enjoyed the transitions between the different views form the projector and learnt that the sun is not even close to being the biggest star.

Annica really enjoyed the coyote animation and wonders what would happen if we didn’t have a moon.

Our year 8 CSA students had the opportunity to be amazed by a science show presented by Dr Joseph Ireland. This was an engaging introduction to our Chemistry unit we are studying this term. The students witnessed a range of physical and chemical reactions as Dr Joe explained the wonderful world of chemistry.

Finn really enjoyed when the ball pit barrel exploded.  He also learnt that white light is made up of the colours of the rainbow and could see this with the special glasses the students were given.

Rose enjoyed the liquid nitrogen reactions and saw that the colour of a flame, changes with different chemicals.

The students learnt a lot during these presentations and look forward to investigating these topics further through their science units of study this term.
