Can-do-Crew at Gracehaven
Gracehaven Christmas Concert 26 November
On Tuesday 26 November, students volunteered to sing, tell jokes and play guitar to entertain the residents at Gracehaven Village. Only after 1 day of practice, students presented a fabulous concert and brought Christmas cheer to the 48 residents who joined us. Residents joined in the carols and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the interactive Christmas story. Students went all out dressing up in their bright Christmas colours and sang and played their hearts out.
Thank you to the students who volunteered and the wonderful Mrs. Vanessa Holloway for working with her guitar ensemble crew who sounded fabulous!
If all you have is kindness to give, then give it generously and make the spirit of Christmas a tangible gift!
Gracehaven Christmas Party 28 November
Our final SCASA afternoon visiting residents at Gracehaven Retirement village concluded on Thursday afternoon, 28 November, with a Christmas afternoon tea party. After weeks of making Christmas crafts together, sharing stories and building on their friendships, residents and students had an opportunity to simply enjoy each other’s company whilst munching on delicious cupcakes and cookies. Residents were showered with gifts made from Junior RE classes and our fabulous crew of Can-Do students received their own surprise gifts from Gracehaven as a thank you for their volunteer work. The entire experience has been fun and rewarding for both students and residents.
Thank you to Kim Hainsworth at Gracehaven for helping us arrange these visits each term, and for our wonderful Shalom volunteers who drive the bus so we can visit our new friends (David Bond, Anthony Aplin, Megan Hoban and Peter Robinson).
