Indoor Hockey - Australian Squad

Samuel A has been selected in the Australian Under 18 Indoor Hockey Squad after receiving his teams "Player of the Tournament" award at the National championships which were held in Brisbane in January. Samuel was also the team's top goal scorer.  Samuel will now attend a number of training camps throughout the year with the Australian squad.
This is an outstanding achievement for Samuel to be part of the "2023 Australian Men's Emerging (U18) Indoor Hockey Squad".
Congratulations Samuel -  Aussie, Aussie, Aussie !!!

Hockey - QLD Under 15s

We had more hockey selection success following the QLD U15 hockey trials in Brisbane on the weekend.  Shalom had five Bundaberg players attend the trials (from previous selections). Pictured below.

Oztag

Congratulations to all the Shalom Students who made QLD Super Series teams from the recent Oztag Queensland State Cup. These teams will battle against each other at a tournament later in the year and a State team will be named.

These students also have the possibility of being selected in teams for the National Championships held in Coffs Harbour later this year.

The 2023 Junior State Cup saw participants travel from as far north as Cairns to the border line of the Tweed Coast and everywhere in between. There was some fantastic skill on show over the weekend making for an exciting SUPER SERIES that is coming up in June.

The 2023 Super Series Tournament will be composed of the QLD Jesters, QLD Fury and QLD Rebels teams that were selected from the Junior State Cup tournament over the weekend.

This year QLD Oztag have also named eight player development squads for each team. This squad will be the players that are on standby to fill the positions in any teams which may have players withdraw.

Softball Nationals

Over the Christmas holidays Charli T competed for QLD in the U16 Girls Softball Nationals in Melbourne, Victoria. The team won the Championships with a hard fought victory against NSW 4-3 with a tie-breaker to seal the team's win.

Charli had a strong championship, playing in the positions of third base, catcher and often the designated hitter in the batting line up.

As a result of these championships, Charli has been selected as part of the Softball Australia Talent Development Squad for 2023. The squad is made up of U16 and U18 players and these players have been identified as future World Cup and Olympic players.

Charli will be attending a four day training camp this April in Canberra for squad members. A wonderful achievement!!
