Principal's Reflection

The cast and crew of ‘A Chorus Line’ did a fabulous job in this year’s Musical. I was at the Saturday night performance and loved it. I have to admit, I had never heard of ‘A Chorus Line’ as a Musical when it was pitched by staff to us all. Our students were fantastic and just highlighted, yet again, how many really talented and committed students we have at Shalom. As well as being impressed by their talent, I loved the story line. I hope that the students who participated, picked up on that through rehearsals and performances and that story might stay with them. The story line emphasised the importance for an individual to find who they are and to be true to that.
Too often we waste so much time and energy being something different for others. Given that the story is set in rehearsals for a Show, resilience featured. People work hard, have great skills and still can get disappointed. Sucking that up and trying again, is so very important. And, hard work, really hard work, pays off. Nothing worthwhile comes easily in life. In an age where all of us, and particularly our young people, spend far too much time comparing ourselves to others on-line and wanting to find an ‘easy fix’ or a silver bullet solution, this Show really had some great messages.Mr Dan McMahon
