Among the Year 7–9 Boys, Team 1 (Jack B, Jai P, Aaron C, and Gabe K) stood out with a remarkable performance, emerging victorious against a strong Discovery Christian College team. Their success earns them the honour of representing Wide Bay at the State QSSTT Teams Tournament in Rockhampton this September. Year 7–9 Boys Team 2 (Lachlan D, Tokoko W, Jack S, and Lorenzo M) also put in a solid performance, finishing fourth on the day.

Rugby League

Congratulations to former Shalom student Tom M on his recent season with Wynnum Manly's Mal Meninga Cup team. Tom was listed in the "PLAYERS WE WOULD HAVE MOST LIKED TO HAVE SELECTED" in the Team of the Year media release;

"A Shalom College alumni from the Bundaberg region, the former Wide Bay Bulls representative tried his heart out all season for the Seagulls.

If he wasn’t Wynnum Manly’s best all year he was a close second or third, constantly asking questions and always reliable on the right edge.

Scored plenty, saved plenty and was strong as an ox with his carries."

Under 15's Wide Bay

Congratulations to Shalom student Slater A on his recent selection for the Emerging Socceroos Championship representing Queensland. This is a massive achievement being the only U16 to be selected for Squad from Bundaberg and 1 of 2 from the Wide Bay region.

This is the second occasion he’s been selected. Good luck Slater!!

Congratulations to our Boys Bill Turner Cup team that played in the Wide Bay final against FCAC in Hervey Bay last week.  The boys were down 1-0 for most of the second half of the game but scored a late equaliser to take the game into extra-time and eventually a penalty shootout.  Unfortunately going down in the end.  A tough result but the team played some great football.  The boys never gave up and fought hard.  Their sportsmanship and commitment were outstanding.  Thanks also to Shalom staff Mr Leggett and Mr Cunningham for looking after this side.

Cycling

Congratulations to Shalom student Elise V on her recent result of her 2025 Road Cycling Campaign in Australia’s capital, Canberra, braving wet and chilly conditions over two days of racing. Competing against some of Australia’s top female cyclists, Elise showcased her incredible durability and skill, earning an impressive third-place overall finish.
