Race Walking Championships

Recently Koby I competed in the 58^th Annual Lake Burley Griffin National Road Race Walking Championships in Canberra at the Stromlo Forest Track. Under some pretty unfavourable conditions of sleet, rain, winds and below 0 temperatures, Koby managed to walk away with 4^th in the U16 Men’s 3000m race walk and 3^rd in the Men’s U18 5000m race walk. Congratulations Koby.

Rowing

OARSOME FIRST REGATTA FOR THE SEASON

Sunday 9^th June, our rowers participated in their first Regatta for the 2025 local season, a 500m Sprint Regatta. The goal of having the shorter races for the first regatta was to help support new rowers as they learn the art of racing. The course was a sea of green from weed that accumulated, but it quickly cleared, and the weather didn’t disappoint for our first regatta. Also, for the first time ever we had Rockhampton Grammar join us for one of our local regattas adding to the competition.

Despite the extra competition, our rowers did oarsome with all rowers finishing in the top 3. As this is a lead up regatta no medals or places were awarded. Overall, we had 19 crews cross in 1^st place, 17 in 2^nd place & 15 in 3^rd place.

The exciting part of the day was seeing our 16 new rowers crossing the finish line in their first regatta. All rowers put in a great effort and gained valuable race experience for the next Regatta in 3 weeks’ time at Bucca. Great to see our rowers as well sporting their new rowing undershirt.

A big THANK-YOU to all the parents and coaches that helped out on the day. We had parents on the water in safety boats, helping in the canteen, handing out bow numbers, in the judge’s tower, boat loading, towing trailers. The day would not have been a success without your assistance. Thank you to our sponsors as well that financial support our team uniform.

Rugby League

Congratulations to Year 7 students Daniel C and Oliver B who have been selected in the Wide Bay Under 12s Rugby League Team to play at State Championships in Mount Isa later this month.
