Students from our Year 12 Legal Studies class have made Shalom College proud, taking out first place in the inaugural Bundaberg Region Mooting Competition hosted by North Bundaberg State High and organised by Miss Amy Wilson. The competition featured 14 teams from five schools across the region, including Hervey Bay, all vying for the top spot in a courtroom-style legal challenge that tested students' critical thinking, debating and public speaking skills. One of our teams, made up of Ethan M (Senior Counsel), George H (Junior Counsel), and Mitchell E (Scribe), impressed judges Amanda Weier, President of the Bundaberg & District Law Association and Magistrate Edwina Rowan with their professionalism and persuasive arguments. After presenting both prosecution and defence cases across two rounds, they emerged undefeated to claim the championship trophy which was provided with the support of the Bundaberg District Law Association.

All Shalom teams performed exceptionally well against strong opposition, demonstrating a deep understanding of legal processes and confidence under pressure. Their hard work and preparation reflected the high standard of our Legal Studies program. Congratulations to all involved for representing Shalom College with excellence and integrity!
