Pathways
CQU University Experience
Year 12 students are invited to experience a day in the life of a CQU student on Friday 17 March 9am - 2pm, getting a taste of what post-school study is really like. Shalom will transport students to and from the event.
What to expect:
Students will choose two study areas of interest and participate in interactive, hands-on sessions delivered by CQU teaching staff. On the day, students will receive a personalised timetable to navigate the day just like uni students. They'll also:
- Learn about our early offer options and other pathways to uni.
- Discover study support and scholarship options.
- Get to ask our friendly CQU staff and students questions.
- Meet students from other schools with similar interests.
Students who are not ATAR eligible, are concerned about not receiving an ATAR, or not meeting an ATAR requirement, are welcome to attend. CQU will be hosting a STEPS session that students can select as one of their study areas. This is for any students who genuinely wants to attend university, because it is a long day if you are not interested.
Study areas on offer:
- Agriculture
- Aviation
- Business
- Digital Media
- Education
- Engineering
- Medical Science
- Nursing
- Occupational Therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Psychology
- Social Work
- STEPS (pathway to university)

Interested in Earthworks/Heavy Machinery?
According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, construction equipment operator jobs are on the rise and are expected to continue to increase by about 12% in the next decade. That could mean the creation of more than 52,000 jobs by 2026. Heavy equipment operators work mainly outside and in all types of weather, in addition to working with multiple different machines. Workers who can use several types of machines or are certified and licensed on multiple machines have an even higher likelihood of gaining full-time employment in the coming years.
