BMX

Congratulations to Shalom student Sophie-Rose B for her recent BMX results. Sophie raced in round 5 and round 6 in Sarina for the QLD state series competition on the 28th - 29th of June placing 4th on Saturday and 4th on Sunday putting her currently 3rd overall in QLD for 12 year old girls.

Sophie also raced in our annual Bundaberg Canetoad Classic last weekend. She was undefeated all weekend and stood 1st on the podium. She has now defended her Canetoad title for 3 years in a row.

Sophie will now head over to Denmark next week as she has been selected to represent Australia at the UCI World BMX Championships in Copenhagen. She will be a part of the event 24th July to the 3rd August, which includes open days, practice days, race days and finals days. Good luck Soph!!!!

Hockey

Shalom had quite the number of students compete at both the girls and boys U14 State Hockey Championships during the school holidays.

The Girls were part of the Bundaberg U14 rep hockey team that competed in the State Championships in Toowoomba.  This team finished 4th in the State!

Shalom super star, Sophie A, was awarded the "Player of the Tournament".  This is a significant achievement for the goal scoring machine.  Sophie also gained selection in the U/14 QLD Embers Hockey Team.

The Boys were members of the Bundaberg U14 rep hockey team that competed in the State Championships in Rockhampton.  This team only lost one game the whole championships, and this was in the Grand Final against Brisbane.  Not bad for a very young team from the country competing against top age teams.

Levi K gained selection in the U/14 QLD Sabres Hockey Team and Hamish C was named as a QLD Shadow player.

Congratulations to all players involved!!!

Walking

Koby I represented Shalom at the 2025 Queensland All Schools Road Walking Championships in Brisbane. He secured a bronze medal in the U16 Men’s 5,000m race walk with an impressive personal best time of 26:09—a huge improvement of 2 minutes and 4 seconds from his race just a few weeks ago in Canberra!

This championship also doubled as the Queensland Athletics State Road Racing Championships, where Koby once again claimed bronze in the U16 Men’s 5,000m race walk.

Congratulations, Koby, on your incredible effort, determination, and outstanding results!

Murri Touch Football Tournament

Congratulations to Shalom students Kobey W, Preston J, Seb K, Indi B and Destiny S who competed for Shalom and were awesome! Shalom were red hot favourites, going unbeaten throughout the tournament, but were unfortunately pipped at the post by 1 point in the Grand Final. The students were so respectful to all and encouraging all the other participants. Coach Stranieri was extremely proud of their achievement! This style of Touch Football was new to the students, so it was trial by fire from the first match, but Shalom took it in their stride and smashed it!

Kristi A from Shalom also participated in the tournament and was part of the winning team for PCYC Maroon team.

Kobey also took out the Male sprint race by a couple meters and won himself some prizes from various local establishments.
