SPARQ-Ed Immersion Week
Congratulations to Year 10 student – Archer K who was accepted to participate in 2025 SPARQ-ed Senior Research Immersion Program held at the Translational Research Institute in Brisbane: Week 10 – Term 2.
Throughout the week students explored the impacts of DNA changes on protein function. They completed laboratory experiments including restriction enzyme digests, gel electrophoresis, transfection of human cancer cells and microscopy. They also completed bioinformatics identifying the gene of interest in a plasmid determining how the DNA changed in 5 mutants. Students also visited the TRI Core Facilities, working as a team to answer the research question and prepare for a group presentation at a research seminar at the end of the week.
Well done Archer.
