Equestrian - Aldridge Challenge 2025

Our Shalom Equestrian Team is made up of more than 15 student riders and their wonderful horses and parents who travel and camp for days (and nights) supporting our students. We are very proud of our team and thankful to our parents. Equestrian has a range of disciplines, and our team is made up of riders across many of these.

The most recent event for our team was the Aldridge Equestrian Challenge which was held at the Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park in Week 10 of Term 2. Five of our Shalom equestrians - Jaida, Erin, Asha, Lacey and Maddie - trained and competed over the five days across a range of stockhorse, western and sporting events in their age groups.

The riding and horsemanship skills of our riders were evident, with students trying new events including working cattle. Our Shalom students won or placed highly in many events including ranch sorting, cutting, reining, mechanical cow and roping, showmanship, rider class and equitation. They also won or placed consistently across the sporting events.

Congratulations to all of you for taking part in the Challenge and thank you to our parents for the huge effort of taking time away and camping for the duration of the event. We are also very grateful to Aldridge State High School who host this event for regional schools. Organising riders, horses and families is a huge effort and they do it to a very high standard.

Rowing

Our rowers smashed it over the holidays at the Central Queensland Regatta. Our team beat last year’s performance with 4 x Gold, 6 x Silver & 5 x Bronze. Most of the rowers progressed from the heats & made it into the semis & finals. We are so proud of the team. Year 8 is the youngest age group in Rowing Queensland regattas. So, seeing our Year 7 competing & making finals against Year 8s was oarsome!!! Congrats to our medallists!!
