Relay For Life

SHALOM made a return to Cancer Council Queensland’s Bundaberg Fraser Coast Relay For Life for the first time since the Virtual Event in 2020 at Bundaberg Recreational Precinct on Saturday 19 July, with 11 students (College Captain Joann J, Vice-Captain George S and students Brayden C, Isabel C, Freddie C, Michael C, Chloe G, Lana G, Callum M, Kodee P, and Cameron W) really joining in the Spirit of the Event through its theme of “Celebrate, Remember, Fightback”.

The event ran from 12 noon-9pm, with students walking as groups throughout the duration or some running at times. The Theme of the event was “Aussie Icons” and students chose Bunnings and the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle as our Theme, all wearing Bunnings Hats and Tradies Shirts. Our team has raised $1,892 so far to help in the fight against Cancer out of a total raised through the event to date of $73,133 to be the ninth highest fundraiser out of the 36 teams.

Special mention goes to the only year 11 student in our team, Isabel C, who is the second highest fundraiser out of the total of 556 participants with an amazing $1,041.

All the team members did Shalom, themselves and their families very proud. Thank you to Mrs Freeman who oversaw the formation of the team, and the Teachers who came along and supervised on the day, Mr Braund, Mrs Petersen, Mr Richardson, Mrs Revelo and Mr Stallard. Mention must also be made of 19-year-old Shalom graduating student of 2022, Harry Titmarsh, who did a great job as Chairperson of the Bundaberg Fraser Coast RFL for the first year.
