On Saturday 2 August, three year 12 Shalom students participated in the Quota Student of the Year Quest.

Matilda H, Hannah L and Ava M, along with students from other schools around Wide Bay, were separately interviewed by a panel of judges during the morning session.

In the afternoon, they each gave a 4-minute speech on their chosen topics in front of the other students and their guests. The students were judged around their portrayal of leadership qualities, personality, sporting interests, public speaking and good citizenship.

While the Shalom students didn’t receive an official placing at this competition, they all certainly represented our College with confidence and dignity and they should all be proud of their participation. It was a pleasure to listen to the passionate delivery of speeches from all the local students in the Wide Bay area – the future is in great hands!
