Acting Principal's Reflection
In this Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 13: 22-30), Jesus tells us to “strive to enter through the narrow door.” It’s a powerful image and reminder to us all that living a life of faith and integrity isn’t always about taking the easiest path but choosing the right one. The narrow door asks us to walk with purpose, courage, and hope, grounded in God’s love.
We know our young people are learning to make these choices every day in the classroom, on the sporting field, in friendship groups, and within our school community. Often, they rise to the challenge beautifully; at other times they may stumble, as we all do in life. When that happens, we see it as part of the journey of growth. With guidance from our Student Formation and Pastoral teams and teachers, we help students reflect, take responsibility, and learn from these experiences.
This is where we deeply value the support of our parents and caregivers. This process is not always easy. Working together, we can ensure that every challenge becomes an opportunity for growth, and that our students are learning to choose the “narrow door” with courage and integrity.
One of the highlights of our year that captures this spirit is Shalom Day. More than just a fun event, Shalom Day is a celebration of our Catholic ethos and College culture. It is a time when we gather as one community to give thanks, to celebrate our diversity and talents, and to strengthen the values that unite us. This is why we see this as a not optional but a must attend day for our students.
Shalom Day reminds us that walking through the “narrow door” is not something we do alone, but side by side with others. Each activity and act of service is a witness to what it means to live the Gospel in practical and joyful ways.
As we prepare for this Thursday’s celebration let us continue to support one another (students, staff, parents, caregivers) in building a community of faith, hope, and love, where every young person can grow into the person God is calling them to be.
