Football Queensland Futsal State Championship

In Week 1 of Term 3, we had 55 students compete in the Football Queensland Wide Bay Regional Futsal Championship here in Bundaberg. During the carnival, we had a great display of skill, and managed to have three teams qualify for the State Championships. Unfortunately, due to clash of events, the Opens Boys & Girls teams were unable to attend, but the Under 13 Boys made the trip down to Brisbane.

We knew we were going to be up against some tough competition, with schools from across Queensland participating for a spot in the National Championships. The team had a great start with a convincing 6-3 win over Murrumba State College, followed by a tough fought loss against tournament runner-up Corinda SHS.

This landed us into the quarter finals facing fierce opposition St Laurence’s. The boys got the opportunity to play on show court with a grandstand full of spectators. A 3-3 half time score showed the determination and grit of our team, but Laurie’s were too clinical and came away with the win.

The opportunity to play in a carnival like this was a great experience for our boys. Their efforts over the two days saw great improvements and a great show of teamwork. A big thank you must go to all the parents who came along and supported the team, and to Mr Luke Jacobsen for his coaching assistance. Stay tuned to see how the 2026 season goes!

Karting

Congratulations to Ky B who recently competed at the Australian Kart Championship and IAME Series Asia.

Australian Kart Championship, Coffs Harbour

Last round of the Australian Kart Championships were held at Coffs Harbour. Ky started well, qualifying on pole and 2 heat wins. Final started off pole but ended up getting pushed out the way and falling back to 8th. Finished the final in 5th position. Overall for the championship Ky finished 3rd with only 1 point between him and second place.

IAME Series Asia, Thailand

Ky was so close to taking out the IAME Series Asia, but unfortunately had to settle for second. Had an awesome start with winning the first heat by 3 seconds. Unfortunately after that he just didn’t quite have the pace and finished over the line in the final in 5th. Finishing runner-up in the series, gives him the opportunity to race in the IAME Warriors Final to be held in Spain, early November.
