Congratulations to Cooper L (Year 12) for his involvement in the Lions Youth of the Year for 2023. The competition has been running for decades and is an event that supports young people to develop their public speaking and interview skills as well as engaging them with the wider community.

Cooper won both the Hinkler and Fraser Coast rounds of the event, and on Saturday 18 March he participated in the regional final in Rockhampton. He spoke with insight and passion, and to his credit had the ability to prepare rigorous responses to two impromptu questions. Although he was not the overall winner on the evening, his skill and distinction won him the public speaking prize.

If there are any Year 11 students who would be interested in participating in this event for 2024, please keep an eye out for notices later in the year.
