From the Library
Term three will be a busy one for Shalom libraries as we realise a few special literary projects and events in collaboration with the English faculty.
We have already seen our magnificent Readers’ Cup teams from Years 7 and 8, under the guidance of Mrs Cahill and Ms Lyons, representing Shalom last term and on Friday 4 August we can look forward to the senior teams from Years 9/10 teams managed by Mrs Parton and Dr Davies, compete at Kepnock.
Hot on the heels of that event, on Friday 11 August, Shalom will be hosting its First Draft Festival. The theme of ‘Locally grown’, Shalom will host four guest authors: a General Practitioner, and an Oncologist, both from Bundaberg, a teacher from Gin Gin, and an ex-Shalom student now residing in Brisbane.
In the last session of the First Draft Festival, the winners of our Shalom Literary Wonders writing competition will be announced.
Then get set for some exciting activities during Book Week which this year is celebrated from the Saturday 19 to Friday 25 of August.
