We are proud to share the exceptional achievements of the 50 Shalom students from Year 7 to 12 who competed across 10 teams at the Bundaberg District Maths Team Challenge on Wednesday 31 May.

A total of 325 students in 65 teams from 8 schools in the district participated in the competition in Junior (Year 7 and 8), Intermediate (Year 9 and 10) and Senior (Year 11 and 12) age divisions. The competition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their mathematical ability as they work collaboratively as part of a team to solve challenging questions from many different areas of mathematics.

All Shalom students are commended for representing our school impressively by showcasing outstanding teamwork and problem-solving skills. We are especially proud of our Year 11 team consisting of Zain A, Charlie D, Kay H, Steven P and Bailey R for winning the Senior Division. Congratulations to this team on their exceptional performance!

Thanks also to the student supervisors who volunteered to supervise teams on the day as well as Mrs Rhonda Cutmore and Mrs Debbie Bishop for their organisational efforts. We are also appreciative of Shalom’s Mr Alan Pacey, who organised and convened this competition for the 8th successive year.

We look forward to seeing our students build on their success in next year’s competition and in further extra-curricular opportunities in mathematics.
