Principal's Reflection
Over the last few weeks, parents received a nagging email asking you to complete a ‘School Satisfaction Survey’ which is part of our Diocesan School Improvement processes. We got an excellent response rate from parents. Below is a summary of the data received.
This is very positive data for the College and the commentary supplied by parents supported that. That said, in the section that offered parents the chance to share issues of concern, there were a few common themes. These were:
• Car park stress
• Attendance processes
• Vaping
• Classroom behaviour
• Bullying
Instead of responding in writing to all of those, I've created a five-minute video clip (link below) where I spoke about each of these. I hope this helps but if any parent has any additional query or comment, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Thank you again to all of those who took the time to complete the survey. It’s always good to get your feedback.
Interhouse Athletics Carnival is on Thursday and Friday of this week. We’re looking forward to an enjoyable and positive couple of days. Again, this is one of our ‘special days’ at Shalom. Attendance is not optional and will count against our 90% attendance benchmark and the 80% required for Special Days. If there is a really good reason your child can’t attend all or part, please make sure you communicate this clearly to your child’s House Coordinator.
Date Claimer – following our recent ‘Empowering Women’s
Breakfast', we are looking to hold a ‘Mens’ Wellness’ Breakfast just before Fathers’ Day this year. This event will be held on Thursday 31 August at The Waves Sports Club. The guest speaker for this event will be Darius Boyd. Darius is very well known in Rugby League circles has represented his State and Country on many occasions. The Breakfast will be run in partnership with ‘Brave Brothers’ a local group committed to improving mens’ health and wellness.
