Edmund Rice Camps – Bake Sale Success!

Student volunteers baked and sold goods at our first Edmund Rice Camps bake sale. There were lots of delicious treats for sale and the stall was supported well by students and staff. The Bake Sale raised $687 dollars towards the camp in September, when children, who otherwise may not have the opportunity, are treated to a stay at Chaverim. Senior students will attend camp to act as ‘Big Buddies’.

Year 8 and Year 10 Reflection Days

Last week we had guest presenters, David Kobler and his colleague Beck Neale, provide an interactive presentation on some very real issues for young people. David has been coming to Shalom for a number of years and we appreciate his knowledge and skills in developing and presenting these workshops. We thank them both for travelling to Bundaberg to work with our students.

House Mass

During the scheduled House Assembly time on Thursday 13 July, Rice House and McAuley House will participate in a House Mass presided by our Parish Priest, Father Don White. We will use the PAP theatre as the venue for this Mass.

Class Masses

Each Religious Education class is allocated to a Wednesday morning 8am Mass in Loyola Chapel. The class, along with another, co-hosts this Parish Mass by taking the roles of readers and processors. When your student has an upcoming class Mass, you will receive a notification or an invitation to attend. We warmly welcome all to this weekly joint Parish School celebration. The Year 10 classes will be hosting over the next few weeks:

Sacramental Program

Confirmation and Eucharist are two of the seven sacraments of initiation through which Catholic Christians pass in the process of their religious upbringing. In Confirmation they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands and the anointing with oil. In the Eucharist they receive the Body and Blood of Jesus. Through these two sacraments they are strengthened to continue their journey in adult Christian life.

We would like to congratulate the following Shalom students who were Confirmed at the beginning of June and made their First Communion over the past two weekends at our churches. Along with the 55 primary school students from the various Bundaberg schools. Congratulations to you all.

Rebecca G, Kellie B, Jack B, Sophie B (all Sacraments) and Annica A & Monique A (Confirmation only).

If you are interested in your child completing their Sacraments, please contact either Anne Sheehan our Sacramental Coordinator at the parish office on 4151 6666 or via email litcord.bundaberg@rok.catholic.net.au or Mrs Petersen, Campus Minister at Shalom on 4155 8160 or via email petersenc@shalomcollege.com
