Year 10 Subject Selection & SET Plan Interviews

Last week all Year 10 students were sent an email from the Shalom College email address (Shalom@Shalomcollege.com) with a link to the Webchoices platform and their individual student access code. Hopefully by now your student is familiar with this online portal and how they are to complete their subject selections using the online form.

The SET Plan Interview booking information was also emailed to all Year 10 parents and care givers. Please use the link provided to select an interviewer and then select a suitable timeslot for your SET Plan interview. A reminder that when you and your student attend the interview, they need to bring with them their:

• fully charged laptop
• green SET Plan Form – A3 sheet
• Webchoices link and access code
• Printed Webchoices form (only if already completed)

All interviews will take place on Monday 7 August during the scheduled 30-minute timeslot. This is a ‘work from home’ day for Year 10 students. No Year 10 classes will run at the college, this will allow the interviews to take place on this day. Students are to access their class work through SIA.

Subject Selection – Middle School

The 2024 Middle School Subject Selection Evening will be held on Tuesday 15 August in the Performing Arts Precinct commencing at 6.30pm.

The information session for students and parents of Year 8 students selecting subject choices for Year 9, in 2024 will commence at 6.30pm. The information session for students and parents of Year 9 students selecting subject choices for Year 10 in 2024 will commence at 7pm.

Both are short information sessions covering the subject selection process and platform we use to make subject choices online. They will also cover information about the number of Core and Elective subjects’ students are required to study, and where to access information about the subjects offered in each year level.

There will be no information given about each of the different subject available to study because of the sheer number on offer. This information is available in the Subject Selection Book. However, Learning Area Coordinators will be available on the night to address any questions you may have regarding the selection of subjects to study.

An updated Subject Selection Book for 2024 will be released to students and parents in at the beginning of Week 5.
