Mission

Shalom Day

Last week on Thursday 24 August we celebrated Shalom Day. This is the day we stop each year and recognise how lucky we are and celebrate all things ‘Shalom’. This year we welcomed back our Grandparents to morning tea, something that we had ceased during the pandemic. We were glad that they could come and join us once again.

Activities during the day included a Liturgy, talent show and a house dance competition.

Grandparents joined us for the student-led liturgy, before we shared cake and listened to music by the college jazz band. The talent show this year showcased our students who bravely put their hands up to perform. The audience was enthusiastic. The talent show spilled out onto the lunch break, with staff continuing the performance.

The final event of the day, the annual House Dance Competition, was fought out between the ten houses. Walsh ended up victorious this year, very closely followed by Hogan and then Rice. All students participate in this competition, and it is great to see everyone giving it their best.

Class Masses

Each Religious Education class is allocated to a Wednesday morning 8am Mass in Loyola Chapel. The class, along with another, co-hosts this Parish Mass by taking the roles of readers and processors. When your student has an upcoming class Mass, you will receive a notification or an invitation to attend. We warmly welcome all to this weekly joint Parish School celebration. The Year 8 classes will be hosting over the next few weeks:

• Wednesday 30 August Mrs O'Driscoll's 8.5 & 8.8
• Wednesday 6 September Mr Sheehan's 8.0 & 8.4
• Wednesday 13 September Mr Blinco's 8.2 and Mrs Somerfield's 8.7
